Quality of Life
The Aveiro Region is made up of the municipalities of Águeda, Albergaria-a-Velha, Anadia, Aveiro, Estarreja, Ílhavo, Murtosa, Oliveira do Bairro, Ovar, Sever do Vouga and Vagos and corresponds to the Level III Statistical Territorial Unit (NUT III ) of Baixo Vouga.
In the territory of the Aveiro Region, the city of Aveiro stands out with a more comprehensive area of regional influence, followed by Águeda and Ovar, with influence over the territories of neighboring municipalities.
The remaining urban centers - with emphasis on Murtosa, Estarreja, Albergaria-a-Velha, Vagos, Sever do Vouga, Anadia and Oliveira do Bairro - have more limited, intra-municipal areas of influence. Ílhavo is a case in itself, with an important critical mass in terms of population and with its own urban dynamics, sometimes confused with that of the city of Aveiro.
The wetland, defined by Baixo Vouga and the Ria de Aveiro, constitutes a unique landscape in the country and a resource that has diverse potential. This region is of great importance in tourism due to the quality of natural resources and the attractiveness of the regional environment and landscape that provide for the development of beach tourism, eco-tourism or nature tourism and thermal spas.
